PDM-B12C415 - Mirror Turn Indicator. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery or open
System
Passenger Door Module (PDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The passenger door module (PDM) powers the turn indicator in the exterior mirror. The module has detected that the current on the output is too low, which points to the supply cable being shorted to voltage or having an open circuit.
Possible causes
- Supply cable to the turn indicator is shorted to voltage
- Open circuit in the supply cable
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and activate the indicators to see whether the code comes back
- 2Check the fuses in the fuse box and make sure they are intact
- 3Check the connectors in the exterior mirror and at the door module for loose, oxidised or corroded contacts
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the turn indicator is intact, with no open circuit
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the wire has no voltage when the indicator is switched off, which would indicate a short to voltage
- 6If the wire is intact but the code comes back: have a workshop check the door module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Side marker lights or position lights do not work
