PDM-B12DC02 - Front Window Motion/Position Sensor. General Failure Information. General signal failure
System
Passenger Door Module (PDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The Hall sensor in the window lift measures how fast the window motor rotates and so determines the window position. The module has detected that the signal from the sensor is incorrect.
Possible causes
- Signal cable is shorted to voltage
- Signal cable is shorted to ground
- Open circuit on the signal cable
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
- Damaged Hall sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and run the window up and down to see whether the code comes back
- 2Check the fuses for the window lifts in the fuse box
- 3Check the connectors at the window lift motor and the door module for moisture, oxidation and loose contact
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable from the sensor has no contact with ground (the body) or voltage, and that it has no open circuit
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, read the window position in live data while you run the window up and down and check that the value changes smoothly
- 6If the wiring is intact but the fault remains: have a workshop check the Hall sensor and the door module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The electric window does not work, works with reduced function or works incorrectly
What the fault can affect1
- The control module blocks automatic window operation
