What does this fault code mean?

The driver and passenger door modules (DDM/PDM) continuously check the signal from the switch that operates the electric window. If the switch for lowering the front window has been held in for a long time, or if the signal cable is shorted to ground, the code is set. The module then ignores the signal until a switch that is not pressed is detected.

    Possible causes

    • The button has jammed in the pressed-in position
    • The signal cable is shorted to ground
    • Damaged local control for operating the window lift

    What you can do

    1. 1Read the code, clear it and check that the switch returns when released and does not stick
    2. 2Check the fuses for the window lifts in the fuse box and make sure they are intact
    3. 3Check that the switch for the front window is secure in the door panel and that the connectors behind it are free from moisture and oxidation
    4. 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the switch has no contact with ground (the body)
    5. 5If you have diagnostic equipment, read the switch signal in live data and check that it returns to the not-pressed state when the switch is released
    6. 6If the fault remains: have a workshop check the switch and the door module

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • The electric window does not work, works with reduced function or works incorrectly

    What the fault can affect1

    • The control module ignores the signal from the switch until a switch that is not pressed is detected

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
