What does this fault code mean?
The left and right rear door control modules (LDM/RDM) check the signal from the local lock button inside the rear door and pass the status of the button on to the control module for the corresponding front door. If the button has been held in for a long time, or if the signal cable is shorted to ground, the code is set. The module then ignores the signal until a button that is not pressed is detected.
Possible causes
- The button has jammed in the pressed-in position
- The signal cable is shorted to ground
- Moisture and/or oxidation in the connections
- Damaged local lock control
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and check that the button in the rear door returns when released and does not stick
- 2Check the fuses in the fuse box and make sure they are intact
- 3Check that the button is secure in the door panel and that the connectors behind it are free from moisture and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the button has no contact with ground (the body)
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, read the button signal in live data and check that it returns to the not-pressed state when released
- 6If the fault remains: have a workshop check the lock control and the rear door control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- Central locking with the button in the door panel does not work
- The interior door lock does not work
- Locking and unlocking with the central locking does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The control module ignores the signal from the button until a button that is not pressed is detected
