Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver and passenger door modules (DDM/PDM) continuously check the signal from the switch that operates the rear window's electric window lift. If the button has been held in for a long time, or if the signal cable is shorted to ground, the code is set. The module then ignores the signal until a button that is not pressed is detected.
Possible causes
- The button has jammed in the pressed-in position
- The signal cable is shorted to ground
- Moisture and/or oxidation in the connections
- Damaged local control for operating the window lift
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and check that the rear window switch returns when released and does not stick
- 2Check the fuses for the window lifts in the fuse box and make sure they are intact
- 3Check that the connectors behind the switch are secure and free from moisture and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the switch has no contact with ground (the body)
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, read the switch signal in live data and check that it returns to the not-pressed state when the switch is released
- 6If the fault remains: have a workshop check the switch and the door module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The electric window does not work, works with reduced function or works incorrectly
What the fault can affect1
- The control module ignores the signal from the switch until a switch that is not pressed is detected
