Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver and passenger door modules (DDM/PDM) check the lighting in the control panels. If the reading on the signal line falls below the expected level, which points to the supply cable being shorted to ground, the code is set.
Possible causes
- Supply cable is shorted to ground
- Moisture and/or oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and check whether the control panel lighting comes on when it should
- 2Check the fuses in the fuse box; if a fuse has blown, look for a short to ground before a new fuse is fitted
- 3Check the connectors behind the control panel for moisture, oxidation and loose contact
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the lighting has no contact with ground (the body)
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, activate the control panel lighting and check that it lights
- 6If the wire is intact but the code comes back: have a workshop check the control panel and the door module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The switch panel lighting does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The lighting in the control panel switches off
