PDM-B137C11
VOLVO
PDM-B137C11 - Mirror Vertical Position Sensor. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Passenger Door Module (PDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver and passenger door modules (DDM/PDM) check the position sensor that reads the up-and-down position of the mirror on each side of the car. The module has registered a reading below the expected level on the signal line.
Possible causes
- Signal cable is shorted to ground
- Moisture and/or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit on the signal cable, which makes the voltage on the output float
- Supply to the potentiometer is shorted to ground; this fault is handled first by another code
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and adjust the mirrors up and down to see whether the code comes back
- 2Check the fuses in the fuse box and make sure they are intact
- 3Check the connectors at the mirror and the door module for moisture, oxidation and loose contact
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable from the sensor has no contact with ground (the body) and that it has no open circuit
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, read the mirror's up-and-down position in live data while you adjust the mirror up and down and check that the value changes smoothly
- 6If the wire is intact but the code comes back: have a workshop check the sensor and the door module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Electrical adjustment of the mirrors does not work
