What does this fault code mean?
The passenger door module (PDM) supplies the motors in the exterior mirror on the passenger side. The mirror motors are operated from the switch panel on the driver's side. The module has detected that the signal from the output is too low, which points to the supply cable being shorted to ground.
Possible causes
- Supply cable is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and operate the passenger mirror from the driver-side switch panel to see whether the code comes back
- 2Check the fuses in the fuse box; if a fuse has blown, look for a short to ground before a new fuse is fitted
- 3Check the connectors at the mirror motors and the door module for moisture, oxidation and loose contact
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the mirror motors has no contact with ground (the body)
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, activate the passenger mirror motors and check that they start
- 6If the wire is intact but the code comes back: have a workshop check the mirror motors and the door module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The exterior mirror on the passenger side cannot be operated
