What does this fault code mean?
The passenger door module (PDM) feeds the motor that turns the passenger mirror to the right or left. The module has registered a current on the output that is higher than expected, which points to the supply cable being shorted to ground.
Possible causes
- Supply cable is shorted to ground
- Moisture and/or oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and move the passenger mirror both left and right to see whether the code comes back
- 2Check the fuses in the fuse box; if a fuse has blown, look for a short to ground before a new fuse is fitted
- 3Check the connectors at the mirror motor and the door module for moisture, oxidation and loose contact
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the mirror motor has no contact with ground (the body)
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, activate the sideways motor of the passenger mirror and check that it starts
- 6If the wire is intact but the code comes back: have a workshop check the mirror motor and the door module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Side adjustment of the passenger mirror does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Mirror movement is cancelled
