Show models by year and engine (4)
What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is titled as a short to voltage or an open circuit, it applies when the signal from the output is too low. The passenger door module (PDM) feeds the motor that turns the passenger mirror to the right or left, and the cause may be a short to ground in the supply cable to the motor.
Possible causes
- Supply cable to the motor is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and move the passenger mirror right and left to see whether the code comes back
- 2Check the fuses in the fuse box and make sure they are intact
- 3Check the connectors at the mirror motor and the door module for moisture, oxidation and loose contact
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the motor has no contact with ground (the body) and that it is intact with no open circuit
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, activate the motor to the right and to the left and check that it starts in both directions
- 6If the wire is intact but the code comes back: have a workshop check the mirror motor and the door module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Side adjustment of the passenger mirror does not work
