Show models by year and engine (4)
What does this fault code mean?
The PDM monitors the reading from the position sensor that controls the passenger mirror up and down. Each mirror is adjusted in two directions by its own motor. The module has registered a signal that is higher than expected, which may be caused by the signal cable being shorted to voltage or having an open circuit.
Possible causes
- Signal cable is shorted to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the signal cable
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and adjust the passenger mirror up and down to see whether the code comes back
- 2Check the fuses in the fuse box and make sure they are intact
- 3Check the connectors at the mirror and the door module for loose, oxidised or corroded contacts
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable from the sensor has no voltage when the mirror is switched off, and that it is intact with no open circuit
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, read the mirror's up-and-down position in live data while you adjust the mirror and check that the value changes smoothly
- 6If the wire is intact but the code comes back: have a workshop check the mirror motor and the door module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Outer mirror adjustment does not work
