What does this fault code mean?
The Hall sensors in the window lifts measure how fast each window motor rotates, and this is how the window position is determined. The control module supplies power to the Hall sensor in each window lift. It has registered a signal from the output that is higher than expected, which may be caused by the supply being shorted to voltage, by an open circuit, or by a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Damaged Hall sensor
- Supply cable is shorted to voltage
- Break in the supply cable
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and run the windows to see whether the code comes back
- 2Check the fuses for the window lifts in the fuse box and make sure they are intact
- 3Check the connectors at the window lifts and the door module for loose, oxidised or corroded contacts
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the Hall sensor has no voltage when the window is still, and that it is intact
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, read the window positions in live data while you run the windows up and down and check that the values change smoothly
- 6If the wire is intact but the code comes back: have a workshop check the window lift with the Hall sensor and the door module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Automatic closing of the windows does not work
