Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The PDM talks to the rear door on the passenger side over LIN, a standardised serial communication method. The module has registered that the signal from the rear door is missing, and the code is set as a result.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the communication cable
- Communication cable is shorted to ground
- Communication cable is shorted to supply voltage
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and run a test drive to see whether it comes back
- 2Check the fuses in the fuse box and make sure they are intact
- 3Check the connectors in the rear door on the passenger side and at the door module for moisture, oxidation and loose contact
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the cable between the door module and the rear door is intact and not shorted to ground or voltage
- 5If the wire is intact but the code comes back: have a workshop check the rear door control module
Symptoms you may notice4
- The electric window in the rear door on the passenger side does not work, works with reduced function or works incorrectly
- Central locking does not work or works incorrectly
- The child lock in the rear door does not work
- The switch indicator does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The control module blocks further codes linked to the rear door from being set
