Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver and passenger door modules (DDM/PDM) continuously receive the information they need from the power seat module (PSM) and check the communication with it. If the communication is disturbed or missing, the code is set. The fault lies in communication across the CAN network rather than in a single module.
Possible causes
- Power supply to the power seat module is missing
- Open circuit in the ground lead to the power seat module
- Open circuit or short circuit in the CAN wiring
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
- The power seat module or the door module is not intended for this car, for example a used control module with different software or hardware
- Several codes for communication faults in the central electronic module (CEM) point to a common fault in the CAN network
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then check after a test drive whether it comes back
- 2Check the fuses in the fuse box and make sure they are intact
- 3Check the connectors at the power seat module for moisture, oxidation and loose contact
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first, as they show whether the fault affects the CAN network as a whole
- 5Have a workshop measure and trace the CAN wiring; do not replace any control module unless tracing shows that it is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- The mirror memory function does not work
