Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver or passenger door module (DDM/PDM) has not received the car's configuration data from the central electronic module (CEM), so its configuration is not complete. The code clears by itself once the module receives that data from the CEM again, so it may disappear when the fault is fixed.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the control area network (CAN)
- Short circuit to ground in the communication cable
- Short circuit to supply voltage in the communication cable
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read and note the codes, clear them and road test the car to see whether the code comes back
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; see the owner's manual for where they are
- 3Check that the connectors and wiring in the CAN network to the door module are secure and free from oxidation and chafing
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the communication wires are not broken and have no contact with ground (the body) or battery positive
- 5If the wiring is sound, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the central electronic module (CEM) first, since fault-finding should start there
Symptoms you may notice5
- Doors and child lock do not work
- Locking, unlocking and central locking do not work
- Door mirror electrical adjustment does not work
- Power windows do not work, or work reduced or incorrectly
