What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning it is sporadic. The phone module (PHM) registers that the signal from the phone box to the hands-free speaker is short-circuited to ground, so the hands-free function does not work. The fault may be gone when you check the car.
Possible causes
- The hands-free speaker signal between the phone box and the keypad or phone module (PHM) is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check the connectors on the phone box and on the keypad or phone module for looseness and oxidation, so that they are secure
- 3Check the wiring to the hands-free speaker for chafing and pinching, and use a multimeter to check that it has no contact with ground (the body)
- 4If the connectors are clean and the wiring is sound, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the phone box and the phone module
Symptoms you may notice2
- The hands-free function does not work
- A message on the instrument panel says that hands-free mode is not working
