What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning sporadic, and applies to cars with the EU/OS version. The phone module (PHM) detects that the signal to the hands-free speaker has a short circuit to the supply, so hands-free mode does not work.
Possible causes
- Wiring to the hands-free speaker is shorted to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the connector under the driver's seat that links the hands-free speaker and make sure it is secure
- 2Look for chafing or pinching on the speaker wiring, since damaged wiring can come into contact with a live supply
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wiring has no contact with battery positive
- 4If you find no fault in the wiring, you can try replacing the hands-free speaker
- 5Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it comes back
