What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named signal too low for communication with the carphone box, it applies to the handset loudspeaker signal being short-circuited to ground. The signal runs between the carphone box and the keypad unit or carphone control module. The fault is intermittent, so it may come and go, and the hands-free function then stops working.
Possible causes
- Handset loudspeaker signal, routed between the carphone box and the keypad unit or carphone control module (PHM), is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the connectors at the carphone box and at the keypad unit or carphone control module (PHM) are secure and free from corrosion
- 2If the connectors are in order, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the speaker signal wire for a short to ground
- 3Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
Symptoms you may notice2
- The hands-free function does not work
- Message in the instrument cluster that hands-free mode is not working
