What does this fault code mean?
The carphone control module (PHM) monitors the microphone signal coming from the handset. The code is set when the signal is short-circuited to ground, so the other party cannot hear you when the handset is used. Only hands-free works then, and a warning symbol with a message appears.
Possible causes
- The microphone cable, running from the handset to the control module, is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code before clearing it, so the workshop can see it
- 2Check that the handset connector is firmly seated and free from corrosion
- 3If the connector is in order, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the microphone cable for a short to ground
Symptoms you may notice2
- The other party cannot hear when the handset is used
- A text message appears together with a warning symbol
