What does this fault code mean?
The telephone module (PHM) receives a directly connected crash signal from the airbag control module (SRS), which indicates that the car has been in a collision. The fault is stored when that signal is too low. The fault lies in the wire between the SRS module and the telephone module, and can affect the phone functions and Volvo On Call.
Possible causes
- The crash signal wire running from the airbag control module (SRS) to the telephone module (PHM) is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual or on the cover of the fuse box
- 2The airbag system is a safety system. Do not work on it yourself; have a workshop check the crash signal wire between the SRS module and the telephone module
- 3Look for chafed or pinched sections of the wire where it runs close to the body, and check that the connectors are fully engaged
- 4Clear the code and road test the car. If the fault returns, have the wire checked by a workshop
