What does this fault code mean?
The telephone module (PHM) receives a directly connected crash signal from the airbag control module (SRS). The fault is stored when the frequency of the crash signal does not match the expected frequency, and it can affect the phone functions and Volvo On Call. The fault lies in the signal wire between the two control modules.
Possible causes
- The crash signal wire running from the airbag control module (SRS) to the telephone module (PHM) is short-circuited to supply voltage or has an open circuit
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual or on the cover of the fuse box
- 2The airbag system is a safety system. Do not work on the airbag wiring yourself; have a workshop check the crash signal wire
- 3Look for loose, chafed or pinched sections of the wire between the two control modules
- 4Clear the code and road test the car. If the fault returns, the wire needs checking by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice3
