Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsS80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The telephone module (PHM) monitors the crash signal from the airbag control module (SRS). The fault is stored when the signal wire is short-circuited to ground, meaning it is in contact with the body. The fault lies in the wire, not in the telephone, but it can leave Volvo On Call reduced or without function.
Possible causes
- The crash signal wire running from the airbag control module (SRS) to the telephone module (PHM) is short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The fuse locations are shown in the owner's manual or on the cover of the fuse box
- 2Start the engine and let it run for a while. The code is only tested then, so this shows whether the fault is still present
- 3The airbag system is a safety system. Do not work on the airbag wiring yourself; have a workshop check the wire for a short to ground
- 4Look for chafed wires and loose connectors close to the telephone module and the airbag control module
