What does this fault code mean?
The telephone module (PHM) checks the speaker signal from the handset. The fault is stored when the speaker signal is short-circuited to supply voltage or has an open circuit. The other party is then not heard through the handset, and the fault lies in the wire from the handset to the control module.
Possible causes
- The speaker signal cable from the handset to the control module is short-circuited to supply voltage
- The speaker signal cable from the handset to the control module has an open circuit
What you can do
- 1Start with the fuses in the fuse box. Their locations are shown in the owner's manual or on the cover of the box
- 2Check that the handset and cable are undamaged where they join
- 3With a multimeter you can see whether the cable has contact with positive or is broken. Unless you know the electrical system, this measurement is a workshop task
- 4Clear the code and try the handset again. If the fault returns, a workshop should check the wire
