What does this fault code mean?
The telephone module (PHM) checks the voltage across the SOS and On Call switch. The fault is stored when that voltage is not the expected one. This can be because the switch is short-circuited to supply voltage or has an open circuit, or because the wire between the switch and the telephone module is open or short-circuited to supply voltage.
Possible causes
- The SOS and/or On Call switch is short-circuited to supply voltage or has an open circuit
- The wire between the SOS and/or On Call switch and the telephone module has an open circuit
- The wire between the SOS and/or On Call switch and the telephone module is short-circuited to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Start with the fuses in the fuse box. Their locations are shown in the owner's manual or on the cover of the box
- 2Check that the buttons sit firmly in their positions and are not damaged
- 3Look at the cable between the buttons and the telephone module for breaks, chafing and loose connectors
- 4Use a multimeter to check whether the wire has contact with positive or is broken. Unless you are used to electrical work, this measurement is a workshop task
