This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The telephone module (PHM) compares its own supply voltage with the voltage delivered by the central electronics control module (CEM). The fault is stored when the two values do not agree, which can come from poor contact in the connections or a damaged supply wire. The phone and Volvo On Call can then stop working.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in connections
- Damaged wire for the power supply
What you can do
- 1Check the fuse for the telephone module in the fuse box. Its location is shown in the owner's manual or on the cover of the box
- 2Replace the fuse with a new one of the same type and see whether the fault goes away
- 3Look for corrosion, loose connectors and chafed wires at the connections to the telephone module
- 4Clear the code and check whether it returns. If it stays, a workshop should measure the supply voltage to the telephone module with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice4

- Volvo On Call does not work
