PSCM-B138568 - Lane Keeping Aid System. Algorithm Based Failures. Event information
System
Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–)
What does this fault code mean?
The lane keeping aid (LKA) is controlled by the power steering control module (PSCM), which receives information from other control modules about when the lane assistant should be switched on and off. The information from the central electronic module (CEM) has been incorrect or invalid for a while. The code is an information code and does not in itself mean that the control module is faulty.
Possible causes
- Poor contact at a connector, from resistance or oxidation
- Brief open circuit or short circuit in the CAN cable between the power steering control module (PSCM) and the central electronic module (CEM)
- Open circuit or interference in the communication wiring between the PSCM and the CEM
- Interference or a brief open circuit in the CAN network
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connectors at the power steering control module are firmly seated and not oxidised
- 3Check that the wiring to the control module is not chafed or pinched
- 4Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the CAN network if the fault returns
- 5Safety note: steering and lane keeping are safety systems, so have a workshop carry out the wiring and control module checks
Symptoms you may notice3
- Text window with warning symbol and text message
- The lane keeping assistant does not work
- The lane departure warning does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The lane keeping assistant (LKA) is disabled while the fault is active
