PSCM-B138587 - Lane Keeping Aid System. Bus Signal / Message Failures. Missing message
System
Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–)
What does this fault code mean?
The lane keeping function in the power steering control module (PSCM) is missing information that should come from the forward sensing module (FSM) or the brake control module (BCM), or the information is unreasonable. The cause may be poor contact, a break or interference in the wiring to the FSM or BCM, or in the CAN network.
Possible causes
- Poor contact at a connector, from resistance or oxidation
- Brief open circuit or short circuit in the CAN cable between the PSCM and the FSM
- Brief open circuit or short circuit in the CAN cable between the PSCM and the brake control module (BCM)
- Open circuit or interference in the communication wiring between the PSCM and the FSM
- Open circuit or interference in the communication wiring between the PSCM and the brake control module (BCM)
- Disruption or brief open circuit on the controller area network (CAN)
What you can do
- 1Read off and clear the fault code, test drive and see whether it returns
- 2Check the connectors at the power steering control module, the FSM and the brake control module (BCM) for loose contacts
- 3Check that the wiring to the FSM and the BCM is not chafed or pinched
- 4Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment measure the communication to the FSM and the BCM
- 5Safety note: steering, lane keeping and brakes are safety systems, so have a workshop carry out the in-depth checks
Symptoms you may notice3
- Text window with warning symbol and text message
- The lane keeping assistant does not work
- The lane departure warning does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The lane keeping assistant (LKA) is disabled while the fault is active
