PSCM-B138592 - Lane Keeping Aid System. Component Failures. Performance or incorrect operation
System
Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–)
What does this fault code mean?
The lane keeping aid (LKA) is receiving incorrect or unreasonable information from the forward sensing module (FSM), and the fault has been active for a while. The code is a knock-on fault: it shows the fault lies in another control module, which must be fixed first. The code can be cleared once the root fault has been repaired.
Possible causes
- Poor contact at a connector, from resistance or oxidation
- Brief open circuit or short circuit in the CAN cable between the power steering control module (PSCM) and the forward sensing module (FSM)
- Open circuit or interference in the communication wiring between the PSCM and the FSM
- Interference or a brief open circuit in the CAN network
- Damaged forward sensing module (FSM)
What you can do
- 1Start the fault search in the control module that sends the information, since the root fault is there
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: first check for faults in the FSM, and clear this code only after the root fault is repaired
- 3Check that the connectors at the forward sensing module are firmly seated and clean
- 4Check that the wiring between the PSCM and the FSM is not chafed or pinched
- 5Safety note: lane keeping and steering are safety systems, so have a workshop carry out the rest of the fault search
Symptoms you may notice3
- Text window with warning symbol and text message
- The lane keeping assistant does not work
- The lane departure warning does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The lane keeping assistant (LKA) is disabled while the fault is active
