Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS60 (2011–), V60 (2011–)
What does this fault code mean?
The power steering control module (PSCM) measures the internal friction in the steering system and has found it too high. The fault lies in the control module itself, and the steering may feel heavy or uneven. The code is only relevant to follow up if it has been active for a longer time and you notice a fault that can be linked to it.
Possible causes
- Damaged power steering control module (PSCM)
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the steering column and steering move freely and do not bind
- 3Check that the connectors at the control module are firmly seated and free from corrosion
- 4Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the power steering; if the fault is permanent, the control module is replaced
- 5Safety note: steering is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out the further checks and any replacement
