PSCM-C102D68 - High Friction Inside Power Steering. Algorithm Based Failures. Bus Signal / Message Failures
System
Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The power steering control module (PSCM) has measured friction in the steering system that is too high, and a message fault has also occurred. This code is an information code and does not in itself mean that the control module is faulty.
Possible causes
- Damaged power steering control module (PSCM)
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the steering column and steering do not bind or get blocked
- 3Have a workshop read the control module's messages on the bus with diagnostic equipment
- 4Safety note: steering is safety-critical, so have a workshop decide whether the control module should be replaced
Symptoms you may notice3
- Steering requires extra or uneven effort
- Other steering or handling problems
- Unusual noise from the steering, unsure when, or at all times
What the fault can affect1
- Steering function may be reduced
