What does this fault code mean?
The control module can no longer reach the SAS, the unit that reports the steering wheel angle over CAN. The fault lies in the control module that sends the information. Steering may feel abnormal at high and low speed, and the park assist may be affected.
Possible causes
- The fault lies in the transmitting control module
What you can do
- 1Check that the battery is charged and that the fuses are intact
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: check the codes stored in the CEM first
- 3Check that the wiring is not chafed where it runs to the steering wheel angle sensor
- 4Check that the connectors at the steering wheel angle sensor and at the power steering are firmly seated
- 5Safety note: steering is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out the check if the steering still feels abnormal
Symptoms you may notice5
- Abnormally light steering at high speed
- Abnormally sluggish steering at low speed
- Steering requires extra or uneven effort
- Front or rear park assist does not work
- The parking assistance camera does not work or works poorly
What the fault can affect1
- The control module uses a standard value in place of the steering wheel angle
