What does this fault code mean?
The power steering receives no information from the central electronic module (CEM) over the CAN network. The fault lies in the control module that sends the information. The code is a knock-on fault and should stay stored until the codes in the CEM and other affected modules are fixed.
Possible causes
- Fault in the control module that sends the information
What you can do
- 1Check that the wiring in the power steering harness is not chafed or loose
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: check the codes in the CEM first and fix them
- 3Read off and clear the fault code once the CEM codes are fixed, then test drive to see whether it returns
- 4Have a workshop measure the CAN network if the fault remains
- 5Safety note: steering is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out the fault search
Symptoms you may notice1
- The power steering regulation does not work
