Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–)
What does this fault code mean?
Data the power steering takes from the BCM is wrong or implausible, and its checksums disagree. The fault lies in the module that sends the information, and the code should be traced from there.
Possible causes
- Fault in the control module that sends the information
What you can do
- 1Trace the brake control module first and clear the fault code once it is fixed
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read off the codes in the brake control module and start with those
- 3Check the connectors at the power steering and the brake control module for loose contacts
- 4Safety note: brakes and steering are safety systems, so have a workshop measure the communication to the brake control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- Steering requires extra or uneven effort
- Other steering or handling problems
- The anti-spin function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- A predefined value is used in place of the real information
