What does this fault code mean?

The control module receives information from the central electronic module (CEM) over CAN. The fault is stored when the CEM itself reports a lower quality level for that information than expected, and this lasts for a longer period. It is an information code that does not need repair, and it does not indicate a fault in the module where it is stored.

    Possible causes

    • Fault in the central electronic module (CEM) that sends the information at lower quality

    What you can do

    1. 1Read and note the fault code; it normally does not need repair
    2. 2If the steering feels abnormal, read the fault codes in all control modules and have a workshop check the central electronic module (CEM), since the information is sent from there
    3. 3Check that the connectors in the wiring harness to the central electronic module are secure and free from corrosion
    4. 4Steering is a safety system: avoid long drives with abnormal steering and have a workshop check the car

    Symptoms you may notice4

    • Steering feels abnormally light at high speed
    • Steering feels abnormally sluggish at low speed
    • Other steering or handling problems can be felt
    • Steering requires extra or uneven effort

    What the fault can affect1

    • The control module uses a predefined value instead of the real information

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
