VOLVO
PSCM-U042862 - Invalid Data Received From Steering Angle Sensor Module. Algorithm Based Failures. Signal compare failure
System
Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–)
What does this fault code mean?
The control module judges the information from the steering angle sensor (SAS) to be incorrect or unreasonable, and the fault is stored when this continues for a longer period. It can affect steering and functions such as parking assist and active safety.
Possible causes
- Fault in the steering angle sensor (SAS), which sends incorrect information
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connector at the steering angle sensor is secure and free from corrosion
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the steering angle in live data and check that the value changes smoothly when the steering wheel is turned from lock to lock
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop check the steering angle sensor and its wiring
- 5Steering is a safety system: avoid long drives with abnormal steering until the fault is fixed
Symptoms you may notice4
- Front or rear parking assist does not work
- Front monitoring, active safety or parking camera functions do not work or work worse than normal
- Steering requires extra or uneven effort
- Other steering or handling problems can be felt
What the fault can affect1
- The control module uses a predefined value instead of the steering angle
