Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–)
What does this fault code mean?
The control module receives incorrect or unreasonable information from the steering angle sensor (SAS) and stores the fault when it lasts for a longer period. The fault can affect steering and functions such as parking assist and active safety.
Possible causes
- Fault in the steering angle sensor (SAS), which is the module sending the information
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, then clear it and road test to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the connectors in the wiring harness at the steering angle sensor are secure and clean
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the steering angle in live data with the wheel straight and turned to each side; the value should change smoothly without jumps
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop check the steering angle sensor and the module that sends the information
- 5Steering is a safety system: have a workshop check the car if the steering keeps feeling abnormal
Symptoms you may notice4
- Front or rear parking assist does not work
- Front monitoring, active safety or parking camera functions work worse than normal
- Steering requires extra or uneven effort
- Other steering or handling problems can be felt
What the fault can affect1
- The control module uses a predefined value instead of the steering angle
