The control module has found an internal fault in its data memory, and the fault code is stored while the fault is present. The fault lies in the control module itself.
Possible causes
- Damaged power steering control module (PSCM)
- Internal memory fault in the control module
- Software fault in the control module
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, note it and clear it
- 2After clearing, drive a short distance and see whether the code is set again
- 3If it comes back, have a workshop replace the power steering control module (PSCM)
- 4Steering is a safety system: avoid long drives with reduced steering until a workshop has checked the car
