What does this fault code mean?
The control module has detected that its own temperature is too high. The fault mainly needs following up if it has been active for a longer time during the current drive or if a function is lost as a result.
Possible causes
- Damaged power steering control module (PSCM)
- Too high temperature in the control module
- High outside or engine bay temperature combined with hard driving
- Mechanical or hydraulic fault in the steering system, for example a blocked hose, a blocked pipe or a fault in the steering gear
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, then clear it
- 2Road test the car after clearing and note whether the code returns during hard driving or high temperatures
- 3Check mechanically that the steering does not bind and that hoses and pipes are not blocked
- 4If the fault returns with no fault found, have a workshop replace the power steering control module (PSCM)
- 5Steering is a safety system: avoid long drives with reduced steering and have a workshop check the car
Symptoms you may notice4
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
- Power steering assistance control does not work
- Steering requires extra or uneven effort
- Other steering or handling problems can be felt
What the fault can affect1
- Steering works with reduced function
