PSCM-U300313 - Battery Voltage. General Electrical Failures. Circuit open
System
Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The control module has detected an open circuit in the voltage supply to the power steering control module (PSCM), and the fault code is set while the open circuit is present. The voltage does not reach the control module as it should.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the voltage supply wire
- Voltage supply wire shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses for the steering are intact
- 3Check that the connectors in the supply wire to the control module are secure and free from oxidation
- 4Look for chafing or pinching damage on the supply wire
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire is continuous and has no contact with earth (the body)
- 6Steering is a safety system: have a workshop check the car if the steering feels abnormal
Symptoms you may notice1
- Steering requires extra or uneven effort
