PSCM-U300316
VOLVO
PSCM-U300316 - Battery Voltage. General Electrical Failures. Circuit voltage below threshold
System
Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–)
What does this fault code mean?
The voltage supply to the control module is too low for a longer period, and the fault code is set then. Low voltage to the control module can limit steering function.
Possible causes
- Low battery voltage
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Voltage supply wire shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Check the battery charge and voltage
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check that the connectors in the supply to the control module are secure and free from corrosion
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire has no contact with earth (the body)
- 5If the fault remains anyway, have a workshop check the control module and the wiring
- 6Steering is a safety system: have a workshop check the car if the steering feels abnormal
Symptoms you may notice3
- Steering requires extra or uneven effort
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
- Other steering or handling problems can be felt
What the fault can affect1
- Steering function is reduced
