PSCM-U30031F
VOLVO
PSCM-U30031F - Battery Voltage. General Electrical Failures. Circuit intermittent
System
Power Steering Control Module (PSCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS60 (2011–), V60 (2011–)
What does this fault code mean?
The voltage in the circuit to the power steering control module (PSCM) deviates, either upwards or downwards. The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred but may not be present right now.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Voltage supply wire shorted to voltage
- Voltage supply wire shorted to ground
- Open circuit in the voltage supply wire
- Damaged power stage
- Damaged power steering control module (PSCM)
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code and clear it
- 2Because the fault is intermittent: road test the car and check whether the fault code comes back
- 3Check the connectors in the supply and to the control module: they should be secure and free from oxidation
- 4Look for chafing or pinching damage on the supply wire, especially where it can move
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the control module and the power stage, since it may need replacing
- 6Steering is a safety system: have a workshop check the car if the steering keeps feeling abnormal
Symptoms you may notice3
- Warning symbol and message in the display
- Steering requires extra or uneven effort
- Other steering or handling problems can be felt
What the fault can affect1
- Steering works with reduced function
