What does this fault code mean?

The fault is intermittent: the signal to motor 4 (M4-) for the seat front edge has on an earlier occasion been missing, but the fault is not present now. Seat front edge height adjustment is then not possible.

Possible causes

Open circuit in the signal cable to motor 4
Blown fuse (passenger compartment fuse 4)

What you can do

1Make sure passenger compartment fuse 4 is intact and sits firmly in its holder.
2Move the wiring between the control module and motor 4 gently while the front edge is adjusted. If the adjustment stops, the wiring is suspect.
3Use a multimeter to check that the wiring to motor 4 has no open circuit.
4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the motor and the control module.
