System

Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means no Hall pulses are registered from motor 4, which controls the seat height at the front edge, even though the motor is activated. Automatic operation of the seat and the outer mirrors then does not work, and neither does the automatic front seat memory adjustment.
Possible causes
- Damaged Hall sensor in motor 4
- Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage
What you can do
- 1Check that the seat fuses are intact.
- 2Look for corrosion on the connector to motor 4 and check that it is firmly seated.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the Hall sensor has no contact with supply voltage.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: run motor 4 and see whether the Hall sensor value changes.
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the motor and the control module.
Symptoms you may notice2
- Automatic operation of the seat and outer mirrors does not work
- The automatic memory adjustment of the front seat is not working
