What does this fault code mean?
The power seat control module (PSM) has detected that the MEM memory button, used to store a seat position, has been held pressed for longer than allowed, which sets the code. The button may have jammed in the pressed position. Seat positions may then not be stored or recalled as normal.
Possible causes
- The memory button has jammed in the pressed position
- Damaged control panel
What you can do
- 1Check that the seat fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse chart
- 2Press the MEM button in and release it; it should spring back freely. If it sticks or stays down, the control panel is the fault
- 3Test the seat and check whether stored positions can be saved and recalled when the MEM button is used
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the MEM button's status in live data and check that it returns to not-activated when the button is released
- 5Check that the control panel is firmly fitted and not damaged, wet or dirty around the buttons
- 6Clear the code after the checks and road test the car. If it returns and the MEM button still sticks, replace the control panel
Symptoms you may notice4
- Reduced seat function
- Memory buttons do not work
- Front seat, power seat adjustment and folding do not work
