What does this fault code mean?
The power seat control module (PSM) has detected that memory button 1, used to store a seat position and recall it, has been held pressed for longer than allowed, which sets the code. The button may have jammed in the pressed position. Memory position 1 may then stop working.
Possible causes
- Memory button 1 has jammed in the pressed position
- Damaged control panel
What you can do
- 1Check that the seat fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse chart
- 2Press memory button 1 in and release it; it should spring back freely. If it sticks or stays down, the control panel is the fault
- 3Test the seat and check whether it moves to stored position 1 when the button is pressed, if a position has been stored
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read memory button 1 in live data and check that it returns to not-activated when the button is released
- 5Check that the control panel is firmly fitted and not damaged, wet or dirty around the buttons
- 6Clear the code after the checks and road test the car. If it returns and the button still sticks, replace the control panel
Symptoms you may notice4
