This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The power seat control module (PSM) has an incorrect configuration ID for the CAN network. It compares its number with the one sent by the central electronic module (CEM), and if they do not match, or if communication with the central electronic module is interrupted, the code is set. The module responds to diagnostics, but normal network communication does not work.
Possible causes
- Wrong configuration ID for the CAN network; the module may be a secondhand unit carrying other software or hardware than the car needs
- Break in the CAN wire between the seat module and the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the seat control module is intended for this specific car. A used module fitted without the correct software can give this code
- 2First read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM) and fix any communication faults stored there
- 3With the battery negative lead disconnected, use a multimeter to check that the CAN wire to the central electronic module has no open circuit
- 4Have a workshop program the seat control module with the correct software for the car
- 5Clear the code after the repair and road test the car. If it returns, have a workshop continue fault-tracing with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice2
- Power seat with memory function does not work at all
- Automatic seat and door mirror adjustment does not work
