System

Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (3)
What does this fault code mean?
The right power seat control module (PSR) has registered serious interference on the low-speed part of the CAN network that the module is connected to. Communication is blocked and the module cannot be reached, so remote operation and automatic adjustment do not work.
Possible causes
- Short circuit in the CAN cables
- Break in the CAN cables
- Internal fault in the seat control module (PSR)
- Internal fault in another control module on the same network section
What you can do
- 1First read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM); it monitors the voltage on the CAN cables
- 2With the battery negative lead disconnected, use a multimeter to check that the CAN cables have no open circuit and no short to ground or voltage
- 3Check the connectors in the CAN network for loose or oxidised joints
- 4If another control module on the network is interfering, have a workshop locate it with diagnostic equipment
- 5Do not replace the central electronic module for a CAN fault unless it has an internal fault; have a workshop confirm this
Symptoms you may notice2
- Remote operation does not work
- Automatic seat and outer mirror adjustment does not work
What the fault can affect2
- The control module switches itself off ("bus-off")
- It stays off until the power supply is interrupted, then it makes a new attempt to communicate
