REM-1A01
VOLVO
REM-1A01 - 30-Power supply. Signal too low. Intermittent fault
System
Rear Electronic Module (REM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The rear electronic module (REM) has registered that its supply voltage is lower than the supply voltage to the central electronic module (CEM), which points to a voltage drop in the supply. The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred before but may no longer be present. Because the REM controls several functions at the back of the car, these can be affected.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short circuit to ground in the supply to the rear electronic module (REM)
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose contact in the supply to the rear electronic module (REM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the wiring and connectors in the supply to the rear electronic module (REM) for chafing, loose contacts and corrosion
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the rear electronic module is not shorted to ground (the body) and has continuity all the way
- 4If the fault returns after these checks, have a workshop trace the supply further
Symptoms you may notice4
- The boot light is dim
- The rear lights do not work
- Central locking does not work on the rear doors and tailgate
- The heated rear window does not work
