What does this fault code mean?
The rear electronic module (REM) controls the relay for the extended power supply and checks the signal to the relay coil. If that signal is too high, for example from a short circuit to supply voltage in the relay wiring, the code is stored. The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred before but may not be present now.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to supply voltage in the relay wiring
- Defective relay
What you can do
- 1Test the rear wiper: run it once and see whether it returns to its rest position
- 2Check that the connectors to the relay and to the rear wiper are secure and free from corrosion
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the relay has no contact with positive when the ignition is off
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the relay, since the relay may be defective
Symptoms you may notice1
- The rear wiper does not return to its rest position
