What does this fault code mean?
The rear electronic module (REM) controls the relay for preheating the diesel filter and checks the signal to the relay coil. The code is stored when that signal is too high, which is caused by a defective relay with a short circuit in its coil. The fault can make the engine hard to start or stop it from starting altogether.
Possible causes
- Defective relay
- Short circuit in the relay coil
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive the car
- 2Check that the diesel filter preheating relay is seated firmly and does not appear to be damaged
- 3If the relay is damaged or the fault remains, have a workshop replace it
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine does not start
- The engine is hard to start
